Our Ranch

La Fortaleza Beef

La Fortaleza Beef, a proud family-owned ranch located in the heart of South Texas, specializes in raising some of the finest cattle in the region. At La Fortaleza, we raise Japanese Black Wagyu, Akashi, and a unique cross of 1/2 Akashi and 1/2 Texas Black Angus beef. Our herds are treated with the utmost care, ensuring they are raised in a humane and comfortable environment. As part of the Mumme’s Feed Store family, we bring years of experience and expertise in cattle care to every step of our operations. From the selection of breeding stock to the careful breeding process, we take great pride in ensuring the highest quality beef possible. Our breeding program is meticulously managed to maintain genetic integrity, focusing on traits that improve meat marbling, tenderness, and overall flavor. We breed our own cattle, giving us complete control over the genetics and health of the herd. The result is a premium product, offering beef that is not only ethically raised but also unmatched in quality. We believe that La Fortaleza Beef is the pinnacle of what Texas has to offer, and we are committed to delivering a superior product to our customers, with the best beef and the highest level of care in the industry.

Our Mission

With a mission to provide the world the best tasting and nutritional Texas beef through ingenuity, premium genetics, and compassion, our Akaushi cattle are compassionately raised on Fortaleza de Zavala Ranch in La Pryor, Texas. Grass-fed and raised naturally without the use of growth-promoting drugs or hormones. La Fortaleza Beef steers are finished in a feeding program in Hondo, Texas, that utilizes Texas grain to optimize marbling potential. As a result, La Fortaleza Beef has a rich buttery flavor that is guaranteed to stand out against all other beef.
